Sesame Place Spooktacular Opening Weekend

We went to Sesame last night... As Dave said, it's mine and Katie's happy place!
We didn't win the costume contest - but I think that's cause some lady made a kick ass Mr. Noodle costume for her little boy and there was a family of Super Mario Brothers characters and I can appreciate that:)

Anyway, here are some pics of our night!

My favorite part was when Bert came out of the parade - pointed out Katie's Ernie sweater and then gave her a big hug - god I love this place!

In other news... Ben eats paper. With gusto... This is a tag from clothes we hadn't taken off yet and I had just taken a piece of paper away from him 2 seconds earlier - on my walk back from the garbage - I found this!

SCHOOL

First Day of school -crappy camera because I couldn't find the card for my REAL camera:(

I brought Ba Ba in to pick her up and she was SUPER excited to see him!

saying good bye to Ba Ba on the 2nd day of school!

Monday was Katie's first day of school. (Pics to follow)

We made a biggish deal out of her leaving and she picked Ba BA up and told him, It's ok baba I have to go to school but you will pick me up later and kissed him.... it was ADORABLE!

Dave took her for drop off and then Ben, Ba Ba and I went and picked her up after lunch. I could tell she had been crying because her little pink eyes said it all... The teacher said she was really good until some of the other kids started getting picked up - then she got a little sad and asked for me, Baba and Ben...

She didn't pee the entire time she was there - but didn't have an accident either....

She did however, eat her entire lunch which was VERY impressive because she's so finicky at home.

She told me about the teachers (whose names she doesn't know - but she calls them, the mean teacher, the brown teacher and the blue teacher)

Apparently the mean teacher was mad at some other kid - I couldn't get a clear story - although today she said the Mean teacher liked her a lot and gave her a hug....

The Brown teacher is another story - I asked her what was brown because I was hoping she was referring to her clothes (like the blue teacher) but nope - she said her face and her hands....

What do I do? She's not wrong - I just don't want to offend anyone... I'll deal with that later...

She also sang the circle time song and pretended to do circle time with her friends at home.

Fast forward to this morning... she woke up later than usual and we had a bit of a rush to get out the door. She was a big apprehensive about school so we were worried she would be upset - but Dave said as soon as they got to school she cheered right up and was fine.

I didn't call to check on her today because I don't want to be an annoying mom and there really isn't anything I could do since I won't go get her....

Baba, Ben and I went to pick her up and she didn't see us walk in - she was happy as a clam and playing... When I told her it was time to leave her response was, But I didn't play play doh yet...

hmmmmmmmmmmmm

The only problem so far is she refuses to pee - but we go as soon as we get home. I also use hand sanitizer on her hands once we get to the car and wash her hands right after the bathroom to try to help with delaying a house full of sick people thanks to daycare germs...

They let her go with the PreK kids during lesson time - and that makes me happy because they are learning spelling and words, etc....

So far, so good - now I just gotta find her fun snack/drink holders and cups that are personalized so that we don't have to write on ours with Sharpie every day. (it doesn't stay permanent on those items)

There's lots of cute stuff online, but I gotta do a little more research!

More later - just wanted to put up a quick post - it's working and so far everyone is happy!

Yay for Big girl school!

P.s. I just researched some labeling products and have fallen in love with namebubbles.com - I think I will be placing an order shortly - they are dishwasher, and washer safe and they have ADORABLE pictures and color choices! I can get her trains with green and pink and purple on them - PERFECT!!

Our Weekend

That was the races this morning! Dave found out that the farm we like to take Katie to was having a MARINE CORPS weekend with a corn maze that was a marine corps theme - so we HAD TO GO.
It was a lot of fun despite Katie breaking down in the middle of the corn maze hysterically and me having to carry her the rest of the way out.
We had a good time and got our first apple cider of the season and some fresh peaches and had a picnic. It was lots of fun:) Katie didn't want to give up the map - so we actually let her decide which way to go for the first half hour or so - and then Mimi figured out there were clues along the way that told you which way to go, so we got out ok!

Tomorrow is Katie's first day of school and we are very excited. We are also in the process of starting to look at houses in the area - yes, yes - we have decided it's time to suck it up and put down some roots and buy a house so we don't have to worry about moving year to year - so we are going to our first Open House of what I am sure is going to be a long search to try to find a nice starter home for the 4 of us for the next few years.

I know, like we needed another project - we are busy enough as it is but we figure it's time to start looking and see what we can find and what we can afford, and give up rental living once and for all.

This is ben happy as a clam that he found all the trains while Katie was napping!

OH and I went through all of Ben's clothes and he is SET FOR FALL/Winter thanks to all the wonderful hand me downs we got from 2 awesome little boys:)

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY - I still have NOT gotten peed on - I repeat - I still have NOT gotten peed on.

Thank you!

School

So, that's that - Katie is officially enrolled in " Big Girl school" We went today to visit and make our first payment and she didn't want to leave. They started her in the Pre-K class today but I think she will go with the 2 and 3 year olds first and then work her way into the Pre-K 3 class.

I liked this place because they will let her do Pre-K earlier than most other schools.

We have to pay for a full day because they didn't have any openings in their "part time" program - but soon they will move her into PT and maybe it will be a little less.

My plan is to have Dave drop her off at 8:30 so she can have breakfast with her class and then stay until after lunch. (I'm hoping it will encourage better eating habits from our picky eater.)

She seems excited and ready so I am excited and ready.

We got her lunch box today and will pack her back pack with her blankies and an extra set of clothes... she's not allowed to bring any toys - so Ba Ba will have to stay in the car.

We'll see how that goes!

That means more time for me and Ben and more time for me to work because I am working on a special project for my old company and couldn't be HAPPIER! I missed work so much and it feels so GOOD to be working again! Even though it's just part time.

She also is sleeping in a Big Girl Bed - we took the front of her crib off and converted it into a daybed and then put a Princess Railing up so she won't get in and out and so far so good.

She sleeps all night and even naps (occasionally) Even if she doesn't nap, she stays in bed and reads and talks to her friends - so it's working for us. She even climbed out yesterday and got herself a book with noise and then climbed back in... so when I went back in to ask her where it came from - she said, I don't know!!! and gave me a guilty look -

then when I told Dave about it at night - she said, "but I got back in bed"

LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!!

Ben is doing great. Crawling all over the place... well... if you can call it crawling he pushes with his foot and drags himself - but he's fast and determined! I think he'll be walking soon - if you hold his hands up - he will take some steps - his legs are CRAZY strong.

Dave and I are doing well. My thyroid medicine is working wonders which is great for everyone! We might go to Sesame Place this weekend since we have season passes and Katie LOVES IT!

Gotta run, Ben just crawled across the floor and tried to eat our insurance papers - since he's the second child, I'm not rushing cause he'll live;)

I told you, he's fast!

We bought a new stroller today. I sold the one I had bought used and upgraded because we like it so much... Probably shouldn't have gotten the green for re-sale - but we like it and it's Katie's favorite color!!! She helped me put it together cause she's a girl after my own heart!:)

Then at dinner, Ben was feeling a little giggly!!!

Yeah - that was our Sunday!!!

6 Year Anniversary

This is how we celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary! The kids were actually very good and Katie got to have her very own High Tea with scones, pb&j and grilled cheese!

It was lots of fun, even though we couldn't linger over our pots of tea.

Things are BUSY BUSY here - but everyone is ok and I am really starting to feel a lot better. The kids are great and we are getting ready to pick a weekend to go back to Sesame Place for a fall trip! Katie wants to be Thomas the Train for halloween, so I gotta get cracking on a costume. I'm also working on crochet projects for a craft fair I am going to do and started working for my old company again - so needless to say I'm tired and have little time for blogging:(

The most important news of all is that Ben will be 6 months next week and he STILL HASN'T PEED ON ME ;)
