Updates!
Ben's teeth are driving him crazy - poor baby gnaws on anything and everything he can all day and night. Nothing seems to really help and it's just pitiful :(
Katie is doing well and being really good as usual.
She is CRAZY smart and surprises us still every day. She's starting to get sneaky and it's wonderfully refreshing! She asked my mother the other day if she could watch Little Mermaid (I had been telling her no because every time she had asked me it was a bad time) My mother told her she had to wait for me to wake up from my nap and Katie said, "Mimi, you should just put it on because mommy might say no"
It isn't really manipulative yet - it's still innocent and hysterical!
She certainly keeps us on our toes. I'm convinced she's going to be a defense attorney - so I guess we gotta start saving for Law School. She can argue, defend and debate like it's NOTHING!
As for me - I went to a specialist to see about my Thyroid and he upped my medicine and sent me for an ultrasound because he thought he felt something. He said if it comes back "positive" we might have to do a biopsy which he isn't worried about because 97% of thyroid biopsies come back as benign - but I'm worried about it because the thought of someone sticking a needle in my neck makes me sick to my stomach.
So... here's hoping it comes back with NOTHING and that I just have to take these meds - which have started working!!! I feel SO MUCH BETTER! I feel human again. I don't want to sleep all day - the hot flashes are going away, and I have been staying awake past 8 pm!!!! It's amazing!
Dave and Katie still have one day tickets to use at Sesame Place and since we are all finally starting to feel better, we are thinking of going down tomorrow and changing those tickets to season tickets because then they will be good for the rest of this season and ALL of next season. It's a lot of money but it'll be worth it because next year Ben will be the perfect age and I'm sure Katie will still love it and I'm sure we will go lots and lots of times:)
So, that's our update - gotta run I have LOTS of work and stuff to catch up on since I've been feeling so badly for so long! It feels good to have my energy back, but it doesn't last as long as it used to yet:(

Things are good here. Considering the kids and I had an awful cold the last few days which has now made it's way to Dave:( Mimi is here to help until I start getting my energy back from my meds for my thyroid - so we're hoping we don't get her sick!
Will post more later when we have time:)

Our weekend
Daves Gourmet Lunch! (he made sure Katie and I were fed and watered and then ate her scraps... such a good guy)
Pony Ride - we asked her if she wanted to go around 2 times or 4 times and she quickly said 4!!
$5 later and she was a happy camper!
We took a family day and went to Van Saun park so Katie could ride the train, carousel and pony. Ben was a champ hanging out in his stroller the whole time - I was not quite such a champ as the heat and exhaustion made me CRANKY - but Dave took care of all of us and we were able to salvage the morning. She did however have to pee in a port a potty and I still haven't recovered from that experience.
The bloodwork results came back tonight soon after I woke up from a mid afternoon nap -
Hypothyroidism - yup. Apparently my levels were SUPER low so they called in my medication to a pharmacy and from now on I will be taking meds every day... I'm not happy about it - but at least we know that the hot flashes, depression, mood swings, total exhaustion and headaches and muscle stiffness will go away.
I was starting to get desperate in terms of wanting to know what was wrong with me and I just knew it wasn't because I was tired from being home with the kids. I mean, don't get me wrong - it's tiring, but not like this. I have never felt like this for so long in my life!
The good news is we caught it soon-ish - because it can lead to high cholesterol levels and given our latest family bout with heart disease - I feel a sense of relief that it didn't go undetected too long because I'm already a little sensitive about making sure my cholesterol levels stay low.
Your thyroid apparently regulates just about every important function in your body - so as upsetting as it is to know that I have "something" and now will take medicine probably for the rest of my life, every day - I am happy to know that I am not just gonna be miserable and sick feeling forever! I was feeling quite the failure - so at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
So... all in all it was a good day. I'm going to watch some more Breaking Bad in bed (my new favorite show) and get some extra sleep because until my medication regulates (up to 2 weeks they said) I will still feel like crap...
At least we know it's fixable right?
OH - and more importantly, I'd like to announce that it has been 4 1/2 months and I still have NOT been peed on. He has peed right before a bath, in the bath even shot out of the bath tonight - but in the total opposite direction of where I was standing! YAY!!!

January Birthday:(
Binoculars made out of 2 empty toilet paper rolls, left over painters tape and yarn;)
I think next year we need to officially start celebrating Katie's 1/2 birthday in July... She keeps asking for new toys and to be honest - I can understand why, since she gets such a HUGE stash in December and January and then dribs and drabs here and there the rest of the year.
I would have thought she'd be over the Thomas thing by now - but she just keeps getting more interested and the bastards in the marketing department put this YEARBOOK thing in with the latest piece we bought her for her train table which shows ALL THE TRAINS AND PIECES YOU CAN BUY. And she has already figured out that that's what it's showing because she'll tell you that we should go to the store and see if we can buy this one and that one on sale because she doesn't have them.
And now that we are getting books from the library - she gets introduced to new characters even more frequently - which she then wants to buy for her train table.
In her defense, she does play trains EVERY DAY and she does play with all of them. So, as much as I hate to buy her more because I feel it could be excess - I can see that she would really get a lot of use out of them and love them to bits......
Same goes for her Tonka trucks - she tries to put them on her train tracks but they obviously don't fit - so then I was thinking about getting her a car track for those - but then I feel like we are just buying her toys all the time just because - when I'd rather have a little 1/2 birthday celebration so that we can cycle some toys out - I figure it could be win win for all of us...
To be honest, there aren't many toys in this house that she doesn't use at least weekly.
Then there is the fact that she is SUCH AN AMAZING big sister. She has handled the switch in focus to Ben so well for a little 2 year old. Very mature. She doesn't get angry or upset even though every day now, almost everything we do is based on him or his schedule or his needs.
Then if he is sleeping (which is short and sweet) I try to get the millions of things done around the house that I have to - so she ends up playing alone. So I think - I should buy her the damn trains - she deserves them.

Ugh - it's hard. I don't want to spoil her but I can see a need and a use for getting her a bunch of new stuff now - so I think 1/2 birthday might just be the way to go. She deserves a little spoiling - so maybe we'll have a cake for her next week (even though it's not exactly 1/2 year) and let her pick out some new toys and next July we'll do the whole sha bang!
Other than that, Ben is STILL Teething and I'm feeling increasingly worse. Exhausted all the time, headaches constantly and just feeling like crap - so I went to see a doctor today and they told me I'm probably just run down from staying home with 2 kids - thanks DOC- that helps a lot.
I did have them draw blood to check iron levels so maybe that'll come back and they can give me a supplement to make me feel all better or something - cause I am just DRAGGING and I want to feel better already so I can enjoy the rest of the summer with Katie.
Ok. that's all I have time for tonight. Kids are asleep and I need to get to bed too since sleep is hard to catch for me lately! Yes it's only 8 and yes I hope to be snoring by 9 - lame - I know!
