Big Girl

So... we have decided we should get Katie a big girl dresser to hold her ever expanding and quite extensive wardrobe - furnished mostly by her Mamie and Mimi so I've been researching different ones.

I found a local place that takes furniture from estate sales and paints it to be whatever colors/designs you want. Mamie and I first checked the place out last weekend when they were down here and thought all the stuff in there was so cute!

So, here is what she found for us....
Bad pictures - but it shows the mirror that comes with it.

I love this dresser!!! And compared to the prices of plain old standard ones you could get at furniture stores, it's very comparable - if not, somewhat cheaper for the size of it. AND they will deliver for free which is awesome!

So... now we have to make sure it fits in her room (It will replace a VERY stylish, clear plastic drawer unit that we will probably refurbish as some sort of storage for office/crafty/yarn stuff....)

And we have to figure out what kind of design/color we want for it... here's a pic of an example of the stuff in her showroom. We want it to last her a long time... so this is gonna be tough!!!!!!! Suggestions please:)
Other stuff that happened this week..... the water park opened up in town!! (and by in town, I mean across the street!!!) She doesn't like it NEARLY as much as she like sesame... but she it helps on hot days:)

AND our pool is open:)

New Pics

My Mad Hatter!
Why Katie NEEDS a desk - I was organizing her 12 month wardrobe (which filled that entire 60 quart tub and then some) and she took over the container and used it as as desk for a little while!

Her Very First PB & J - FINALLY!!!! She liked it and daddy got to come home for lunch that day to see his baby eat his FAVORITE meal!

Ever watch Family Guy? There is an episode just like this. She realized this AWESOME computer toy I got for $2 at a tag sale had a digital looking screen - so she screams incessantly to tell me that clearly there should be some batteries in it so that it can work to it's full potential. She's a bit young for the battery part - so I don't put them in and eventually we have to take it away from her cause she's too young. I just gotta find a hiding place in our apt where she can't find it - as everytime we put it away for later ( like christmas ) she inevitably finds it and starts with this chant...

Help 2

Clearly a Keurig is a 100% necessity right????

And a dust buster?

And maybe a new bed set and pillows for our bedroom??

The list goes on and on... I think I have a problem....

I'm going to have to find myself a job that pays me money... so I can buy all these essentials.

Know of any jobs that don't require much time and can be done only at night (since there is the little detail of having Katie) that will pay me lots of money??? Any ideas - please send them my way:)

I need help!!!

Everytime I say I am going to stop spending money and do some super saving... I go on crazy shopping sprees and take on new projects that require spending money.
2 Weeks ago, we bought Katie a little people farm because she LOVES her little people dollhouse - we spend the money on it because we thought she needed a new big toy to occupy her.
She barely even looks at it - so that was 50 bucks down the drain. (I might put it away though and give it to her for Christmas instead)

Then I decided she needed a toy box - and I found one at the local consignment shop... $40 bucks there (totally worth it!!! my living room looks like a semi-adult room again) Katie even helped clean it out with the swiffer last night.

Then I decided to go to a tag sale down the street and we walked away with a trunk full of stuff all for $18.
I got her:
  • a Fisher Price Laugh and learn chair with a little desk attached with music and letters and numbers(batteries still in it)
  • A little toy desktop computer that makes noises and plays games and has a keyboard and mouse attached
  • A dragon ball toy that makes music and lights up that I have been looking for forever and is VERY hard to find
  • A Melissa and Doug wooden puzzle
  • A Mickey Mouse & Cookie Monster
  • A TMX Cookie Monster that retails for $40
I need to be stopped! No more stuff for Katie or for us unless it's stuff we absolutely NEED and can't live without.

(Except that I think she really needs a little plastic table and chair that's her size so she can color on it for the living room... but clearly that doesn't count!!!!)

I might also want to get a dining room table for us with at least 4 chairs like a normal family (we only have 2 still) and perhaps another dresser or something for Katie's ever increasing wardrobe - but none of that counts because it's definitely all stuff that we all really NEED as opposed to want. RIGHT????

Someone help me!!!!!!

Crap, I just remembered we also went to the craft store and bought new crayons and some easel paper so I could turn one of our living room walls into an easel... You can see our creations behind the chair 2 pictures up!

Sesame Place Take 3

I think this summer will forever be known to Dave and I as the SUMMER OF SESAME.
However IF we have more children, we will be sure to also take THEM to sesame place so that they will not grow up feeling like they got left out of all the cool family stuff.... (mimi and grumps.....)

Anyway - we had an AWESOME day today. Got up at 5:58 - let Dave sleep in until about 7:30. We had been watching the weather since last night and decided it looked good enough to go to Sesame for opening and stay until the rain started.
We packed up our AWESOME CR-V. (I'm still in love with this car... poor thing has only had a home for a little over a month and we've put 3000 miles on it... whoops) and headed out to Langhorne, PA.

We got there before they had even started stamping hands and were in line to be some of the first ones in the park. (we parked at like the 2nd row of spaces) We brought lunch this time and beach toys for the cool sandy beach areas they have for the kids.

When you pull off the highway, there is a sign with cookie monster pointing the way and she saw it right away and said CCCCOOOOOOOk - then when you pull in to park - you can see the park entrance and a Big Bird sign and she started clapping her hands. I looked over at the car next to me and the mom was taking a picture of her kid doing the exact same thing and the dad and I shared a big smile because we both knew how much it was making our day that our kids recognized where we were.

We took Katie on her first "rides" She got to go down a water slide with mommy first and then she asked for it again so she went down with Dave. Yes that is really me taking her on a WATER slide in a KIDS amusement park on a TUBEY FLOAT... what can I say - having a kid changes you!

While daddy went out to the car to get our cooler and lunch, Katie and I rode Grovers Around the world tea cups... I wasn't sure if she would like it... but she ended up going on it twice - so I guess it was a winner!

Now for those of you who have never been. Sesame Place is AWESOME. They have the characters walk around the park all day for photo ops and of course they take pictures for you which you can buy... BUT they are super great about making sure you get pictures on your own camera and will actually even take them for you! There is also a parade twice a day where the Characters come out - 3 shows in 3 different pavilions that feature the characters with singing and dancing AND they have a special location where Elmo is ALWAYS available - on the other side of the wall from him is either Abbey or Big Bird (they rotate)
As soon as we got near it... katie started with BIG BIRD BIG BIRD - walked right over. At the time there was a long line so we started to wait in it and then she wanted to talk so I put her down and she walked out of the line and around to the back entrance where she could get to him directly... (Don't worry.. I stopped her - she's just so freakin smart)
Then... it was time for Abbey to come out and she was not happy that Big Bird left. So she said MELMO - Because she knows he's on the other side of the wall. So today we saw Elmo 2 times, Abbey 2 times and Big Bird one time at the end of the day when we waited 20 minutes for him to be "on duty" cause she kept saying Big Bird through huge teary, sleepy eyes.
When she finally saw him... she got the BIGGEST smile on her face and tried to hug his leg... it was AWESOME.

We went in Counts Splash Castle - Dave and I both got a chance to go down a big kid water slide alone, Katie learned how to squat really well in the pool for optimum splashing, we went down the tube slide, watched a show with all the characters, rode the teacups, played in the sand and had the BEST day to end Daves vacation that we could have imagined. She was SILENT on the way home. Fell asleep before we were even on the highway and then listed all the characters she had seen today during dinner together.

I know she won't remember this... but we will and the best part is that it's a kids park - but all the parents are having fun too. We even paid for one of the fancy pants pictures with the characters and it will be our new family pictures. It's with Elmo and we are all "on" sesame street. I'll try to scan it later.

Hope you enjoyed being a part of our day. I promise this is the last time I post about Sesame Place - unless of course we have some Fabulous pics from the next time.
We didn't take our new camera with us because it's acting up and needs to be fixed... but next time we'll see what it can do.

Have a GREAT sunday night. It's time for Bath, Bottle, Book, Binkie, Blankie, Baba, Big Bird and Bedtime for us!

Big Week of adventure for us

check out these super cool cupcakes Auntie Steph made for Momo's Birthday party! They were my favorite - but I just liked to look at them - I don't like sweets, so daddy ate mine!

We just got back from a Whirlwind road trip. We that started out with Mo Mo's 3rd birthday party in Brewster, then headed up to Worcester, Mass to spend the night on the way to Grammie and Grampie's house - then drove to Alfred and visited some family for a few days, then drove back down to Mimi and Grumps house in Ct and finally arrived back home 7 days later.
We had so much fun on our trip and I was such a good traveler again. I slept everywhere I was supposed to and took really good naps. We didn't get to go to the beach because the weather didn't cooperate for us (which is usual when we make the trip to Maine) but we got to play outside a bunch and that made us all happy.

We got to go to dinner at a restaurant that had an accordian player.I liked him until he came close to me - then I cried - it was silly. By the end of the night I had everyone carrying me around the restaurant so I could keep tabs on my accordian buddy. I got to go visit my great Aunt Judy and cousins Kathy and Lizzie. (we had a dance party)
I got to see the cows in grammie and grampies backyard and we went to Barnes and Noble to play for a little while and grammie bought me some books for the car ride home.
We drove straight from Portsmouth to Mimi's house and the drive was very quick and I was very good in the car. I took a 40 minute nap and sat nicely until I got to Mimi and Grumps.

Then I couldn't contain my excitement at seeing both sets of grandparents on the same day... I started clapping when I saw Mimi, but then immediately asked for Grumps.
we played outside there too and mommy and daddy went on a date to see a movie while I napped. Then we all played in the water and I got to see my first real water fight... there was even a hose!!!
Now we are back home because the weather wasn't going to cooperate to go to Sesame Place, but we are still crossing our fingers that we can try to go tomorrow.

Here are a few photos from our adventure.

Just another week in the life of a road trippin toddler!
