However IF we have more children, we will be sure to also take THEM to sesame place so that they will not grow up feeling like they got left out of all the cool family stuff.... (mimi and grumps.....)
Anyway - we had an AWESOME day today. Got up at 5:58 - let Dave sleep in until about 7:30. We had been watching the weather since last night and decided it looked good enough to go to Sesame for opening and stay until the rain started.
We packed up our AWESOME CR-V. (I'm still in love with this car... poor thing has only had a home for a little over a month and we've put 3000 miles on it... whoops) and headed out to Langhorne, PA.
We got there before they had even started stamping hands and were in line to be some of the first ones in the park. (we parked at like the 2nd row of spaces) We brought lunch this time and beach toys for the cool sandy beach areas they have for the kids.
When you pull off the highway, there is a sign with cookie monster pointing the way and she saw it right away and said CCCCOOOOOOOk - then when you pull in to park - you can see the park entrance and a Big Bird sign and she started clapping her hands. I looked over at the car next to me and the mom was taking a picture of her kid doing the exact same thing and the dad and I shared a big smile because we both knew how much it was making our day that our kids recognized where we were.
We took Katie on her first "rides" She got to go down a water slide with mommy first and then she asked for it again so she went down with Dave. Yes that is really me taking her on a WATER slide in a KIDS amusement park on a TUBEY FLOAT... what can I say - having a kid changes you!

Now for those of you who have never been. Sesame Place is AWESOME. They have the characters walk around the park all day for photo ops and of course they take pictures for you which you can buy... BUT they are super great about making sure you get pictures on your own camera and will actually even take them for you! There is also a parade twice a day where the Characters come out - 3 shows in 3 different pavilions that feature the characters with singing and dancing AND they have a special location where Elmo is ALWAYS available - on the other side of the wall from him is either Abbey or Big Bird (they rotate)
As soon as we got near it... katie started with BIG BIRD BIG BIRD - walked right over. At the time there was a long line so we started to wait in it and then she wanted to talk so I put her down and she walked out of the line and around to the back entrance where she could get to him directly... (Don't worry.. I stopped her - she's just so freakin smart)
Then... it was time for Abbey to come out and she was not happy that Big Bird left. So she said MELMO - Because she knows he's on the other side of the wall. So today we saw Elmo 2 times, Abbey 2 times and Big Bird one time at the end of the day when we waited 20 minutes for him to be "on duty" cause she kept saying Big Bird through huge teary, sleepy eyes.
When she finally saw him... she got the BIGGEST smile on her face and tried to hug his leg... it was AWESOME.

I know she won't remember this... but we will and the best part is that it's a kids park - but all the parents are having fun too. We even paid for one of the fancy pants pictures with the characters and it will be our new family pictures. It's with Elmo and we are all "on" sesame street. I'll try to scan it later.
Hope you enjoyed being a part of our day. I promise this is the last time I post about Sesame Place - unless of course we have some Fabulous pics from the next time.
We didn't take our new camera with us because it's acting up and needs to be fixed... but next time we'll see what it can do.
Have a GREAT sunday night. It's time for Bath, Bottle, Book, Binkie, Blankie, Baba, Big Bird and Bedtime for us!
