Strawberry Picking

I decided to look for strawberry picking this morning because we always talk about it but haven't gone yet because we always think about it too late in the season! But, we found a farm about 50 minutes away that Dave and I went to on our last overnight away before Ben came and we loved it and it had strawberry picking so we piled in the car and off we went.

It was our test drive with a borrowed car seat for Ben to see if maybe in a different car seat he would be more comfortable and cry less and so far, so good - we had a SUPER successful day with no crying in the car!!! So, we are going to take trips every day to see how he does before next weekend to see if there is any way he will make the 7.5 hour trip up to Maine...

Anyway - back to the farm - who knew a bunch of dried corn kernels could be so fun! We got her the special kids pass so she could do everything as much as she wanted and it was worth it because she had a blast.

Strangely, when we told her we were going to a farm she kept saying there would be horses there for her to ride... and we never said that to her so I don't know where that's from... Sure enough - we get there and there are horses AND PONY RIDES.

yes, that is our normally SUPER SHY Katie on a pony ALL BY HERSELF - she went twice. I was sure she would freak out and cry but she didn't - she loved it and even let the guys working pick her up and put her on the pony themselves.... it was so much fun to see how much fun she was having!

Here is Ben and I after I fed him in the car - he was such a good baby all day long... He fell asleep while we were picking strawberries and stayed asleep in the carrier while we ate and did more stuff for Katie and then they both slept on the way home!

Things are looking up!
Let's just hope that he stays happy in the car so we can try to all get up to Maine next weekend instead of just Katie and Dave. I think 7.5 hours might be pushing it - but we'll see how he does for the rest of the week!

Happy Weekend!
