Amazement

Katie continues to amaze us every day.

She is almost 13 months - she's a pro walker and has finally figured out running.
She now says: Dada, Mama, mom, nemo, mimi, elmo, please, more, bye bye, (as soon as you put your coat on) mickey, ba ba (the name of her monkey), tick (for tickle) and baby, of course you have to know how she says these things to be sure you understand her.. but I know Melmo means melmo.

She can pick out pumpkins, babies, shoes, socks, mickey, darla, nemo and about 20-30 other items in her books and toys (I haven't counted in awhile). If you ask her if she needs a fresh butt - she walks to her door cause that's where we change her diapers.

She knows where the coffee, half and half, yogurt, and puffs are and if you ask her she will show you.

She understands simple commands, like, bring mommy elmo - or where is ba ba? (she will look for the item and bring it to you)

She has a toy kitchen and she knows where the oven and microwave are and knows how to "cook" in her pot.

We are learning letters in books and so far can point to K, T, Z - but so far only when they are by themselves... if I ask her to find these letters in words... I think she only sees the word as the picture and can't break apart the individual parts.

She knows where the skylights are and where she can see the snow outside. If you ask her if she wants to go to the car, she points to the closet and walks to the door. If you tell her we have to put shoes on, she brings me her shoes and when we come back from our walks I ask her if she wants to take her shoes off and she sits down and pulls at the laces.

When looking at picture books she can point out her grammie, grampie, mimi, grumps and uncle mike.

She knows her socks go on her feet and laughs when you put them on her hands instead. She knows the cow says moo, a doggy says woof woof and the chicken says bock bock bgock:)

She also knows that in her play house you put the little people night night in the beds and she makes a snoring sound.

She is very attached to Dave and knows in the morning that he leaves for work, so if I get up with her and he sleeps in - he has to make sure to spend some time with her before he showers or she gets upset and sits by the bathroom door and cries.

She loves Sesame street and ONLY sesame street on tv. But as soon as Abby's Flying Fairy school comes on, she walks away because she doesn't care for that part. Lately if I ask her if she wants to eat lunch and she's hungry... she runs to the kitchen.

Every day we wait by the window to watch him come home.

We continue to be in complete Awe of her and are amazed at how many things she does and understands. I know I must sound like that obnoxious proud parent who thinks their kid is just the smartest kid ever... but I am proud and I am amazed!

I just hope she keeps up and continues to be interested in learning new things. Don't get me wrong.. she does other kid stuff too... like pulling everything off the tables - playing with our remotes and telephones, pulling everything out of the diaper bag and destroying our room if we leave the door open accidentally. She also understands the word no and will sometimes throw a mini tantrem if we say it to her...

I am very hopeful that it will warm up QUICKLY so that I can take her outside every day to the park - for the winter we have been taking trips to the library where she can walk around, and look at the kids books, and she comes to crochet club with me too... she's known as the crochet baby - or Katie and I'm katie's mommy:)

Just wanted to post some updates on our munchkin for all of you out there wondering what she's up to. Don't worry - she's keeping us busy!

Happy Friday all!
